About Laura
|
Her boundless energy and contagious enthusiasm will be the first thing to captivate you, but genuine passion will be the lasting impression, long after she steps off the platform. Laura Sabin Cabanillas speaks from her heart, out of her own personal brokenness; a self-proclaimed recovering people pleaser, Laura often weaves this common theme into many of her messages; Stop living your life for everyone else, and start living the life God created you for! She’ll make you think, make you laugh and make you stop and take notice of the empowering grace that God wants to give you in your daily life. Through her own passion, humorous stories, and biblical insights, you’ll rediscover a love and a passion for God, for others, and for living.

Laura believes that everyone, regardless of our background, age, ethnicity, or religious preference, can identify the truth about who God designed us to be, and only then will we be free to live…really live, rather than just going through the motions of life.
Laura will be the first to tell you that although she grew up in a devoted and involved Christian family, it wasn’t until she was in her late 30's that she truly began to understand that faith in Jesus Christ is not about religion and church, but about relationship and community. Her faith in God has developed most deeply as a result of enduring some of life’s greatest hurts; but she believes without that pain there would be no reference point for the tremendous joy she knows today. She has learned that God is absolutely worth trusting, no matter what.

Laura has a passion for communicating biblically relevant truth in daily living to all ages, but especially to our youth culture. As the mother of two boys, Laura understands the importance of impacting a younger generation for Jesus Christ. She believes that being a mother is the highest calling she will have on this earth, and her boys are a source of great inspiration for Laura to be all she can be.
Her passion for educating and encouraging young people, led Laura to be a regular teacher for the weekly youth worship service at Stone Ridge Church in Yuma, AZ. At Stone Ridge, she also served as the Women's Ministry Director, until recently, when she and her family relocated to the Pacific Northwest. She has served on missions to the Dominican Republic, and is passionate about demonstrating the love of Jesus through practical service.

Crossing denominational barriers, Laura speaks to groups of all faith backgrounds, desiring to see the walls of criticism and condemnation that have separated people for generations, torn down: “The bottom line is Jesus Christ,” Laura insists. “If we could leave our differences and preferences at the cross, we would experience life like we’ve always wanted to – without condemnation - as a result of choosing to love & accept one another, regardless of the variations in our cultures and churches.”
